Carnosic acid found in rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and common sage (Salvia officinalis) is a natural benzenediol abietane diterpene. Carnosic acid from Rosmarinus officinalis is used to study its mechanisms as an antioxidant that protects lipids from peroxidation and proteins from carbonylation.
